Donate Old Hearing Aids

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

If you are purchasing a new hearing aid for yourself after owning a previous hearing aid model,  it is suggested that you donate the old model when you can.

If you have a hearing aid to spare,  it is an important donation that can be made to help enrich the life of an individual who may not otherwise have access to the device.  Because of the expense of the devices,  not many people are able to afford them.  Seek out a local organization that will accept the hearing aids if possible.  The difference one can make with a donation is really amazing.

The dolphin had lost its tail in a fishing trap.  The girl began to find strength through the dolphin as it dealt with not having a tail.  After seeing the dolphin happy with its life,  the girl began to realize that she had nothing to be sad about.

Her mother stated that after seeing the dolphin, she began to wear her hearing aid which helped improve her hearing and life.

Years Before Some Address Hearing Problem

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Many individuals begin to lose their hearing slowly.  The process of hearing loss may start out with reduced ability to hear and begin to grow worse.  The problem will progress over the years for many people until substantial hearing loss has finally occurred.

One of the main problems with treatment is that many people wait too long before initiating treatment.  On average,  many individuals go several years experiencing hearing loss before taking action to help correct the problem.  This is bad because it is ignoring the serious problem of hearing loss.  Further,  waiting to correct the problem is bad because time is lost between the start of the problem and treatment.  This lost time can never be regained,  and if an individual suffers a lower quality of life during this time,  then a serious problem has occurred.

Hearing Aids vs. Glasses

Monday, July 20th, 2009

It is interesting to compare hearing aids and glasses.  Each of the items are able to assist and correct a problem with an individual’s senses.  Glasses help to correct and increase vision, where as hearing aids help to enhance and enable hearing.  However,  it seems each device is looked at in completely different views by society.

Most individuals have no problems with glasses or contacts.  They will wear them if they have a problem and think nothing of it.  Unfortunately,  this is not the case with hearing aids.  Many individuals are reluctant to wear hearing aids for a variety of reasons.  Hearing and vision need to be addressed in the same way, and receiving treatment to improve either one is socially acceptable.
