Evaluating a New Hearing Aid

If you are looking for a new hearing aid, whether it is your first or you simply need an upgrade, HearingPlanet’s experienced hearing aid specialists can help. We can assist you with evaluating your hearing needs, inform you about potential solutions, and refer you to skilled audiologists in your area. Call us today at 1-800-432-7669.

Of course, the only way to really know if a hearing aid is right for you is to try it out and see how it works. That is why we offer all of our clients a 45-day evaluation period to ensure that their selected product is right for them. In addition, there are a few tests you can try before taking your hearing aid home to see if it will meet your needs.

At the Audiologist’s Office

After your new hearing aid has been adjusted to fit comfortably, your audiologist will probably want to take you through a few tests to make sure it is functioning well. In addition to any medical tests he or she has planned, make sure you take some time to:

  • Learn to operate all of your hearing aid’s features. Hearing aids are available with a wide variety of special features, from volume controls to digital sound enhancement. Have your audiologist walk you through everything your hearing aid can do and how to use it properly.
  • Test your hearing aid’s compatibility with your phone. Cell phones can sometimes create feedback or other irritating noises when used with hearing aids. Bring your phone to your hearing aid fitting so you can make sure the two devices work together.
  • Practice adjustments. You may need to make some adjustments to your hearing aid in different environments, such as watching TV at home versus speaking to someone in a crowded office. Ask your audiologist about these adjustments, and see if he or she will let your try your hearing aid in a different setting – for example, by stepping outside the building for a few minutes.

Adjusting to life with a new hearing aid can present some challenges, but making sure you understand your new purchase before bringing it home can make the transition much smoother.

Testimonial

Dear Grant,

I just want to thank you again for the absolutely excellent level of support you have provided to me in my search for hearing aids. As you know, when I called, I really was only gathering information and had no intention on committing to purchase any time in the immediate future. However your friendly one-on-one support with my questions, concerns and possible issues quickly won me over to make you and HearingPlanet my first choice as a provider...

Best Regards,
