As you know, when I called, I really was only gathering information and had no intention of committing to a purchase any time in the immediate future. More than 8 years ago, I was dealing with hearing loss that was obviously deteriorating. I went to a store front hearing center and was prescribed the “canal” type hearing aid. I wore the old hearing aids for less than 2 weeks and realized that they did NOT work, i.e. made my hearing loss seem worse because they blocked out more sound than they let in, i.e. just made everything louder. I learned to read lips and “made do”. I wasn’t anxious to go through more testing and purchase of another expensive hearing aid that I probably would not wear; however, as time went on, my family (grandchildren too) continually pointed out to me that my hearing was becoming a bigger issue for me AND them. It was time to be proactive for better hearing.
Bottom line, I did some research online, not wanting to go back to a “store front” and found Dr. Marifran Ramaglia. What a blessing, in so many ways, she has been in my life.
I knew immediately that she cared about “me”, not about selling a product. She took all the time in the world for me and she treats us all as individuals and listens to what our issues are. She helped me determine what the best product for me would be. She did not try to sell me the most expensive hearing aid, either. But rather allowed me to choose for myself, based on the features, what would best fit my lifestyle. That was important since I am active and in a lot of venues where hearing voices, sounds, etc. was crucial.
Her practice allows for a 45-day exchange policy which was of great interest for me, too. It meant if they didn’t fit, weren’t comfortable or helped me hear in all situations, I could return them and try another style/brand. Oh, and the payment options are amazingly generous.
In addition, her two office locations made it extremely convenient for my visits after the initial decision of style/brand. The time and effort she spent with me after receiving the hearing aids was important since they needed to be custom “tweeked” for my hearing needs. She never rushed me and her patient nature was an example of how she truly cares about my hearing needs. She absolutely wanted to help me have a healthy attitude towards wearing these hearing aids and have a better quality of life.
I will never even consider going to another audiologist as long as Dr. Ramaglia is practicing.
